Citrine
Citrine is a common variety from the quartz mineral family, with yellow to orange color hue. It can be considered rare if natural, because most of the stones available on the market are the result of heat treatment, which causes some amethyst to change color from undesirable pale violet to a more attractive and deeper yellow hue. Usually citrine present eye clean clarity without internal visible inclusions also for larger sized gemstones. Its color may range from pale yellow to orange, where the medium orange tone when is well saturated is the most priced variety also called Madeira duo to its origin in Brazil. Like other gemstone varieties from the Quartz mineral family, it has an hardness of 7 on the Mohs hardness mineral scale. Citrine is a popular ancient gemstone and is often used in jewelry and cut in all the shapes, can also be used for carving or fancy cut duo to its affordable price.
