Smoky Quartz

Smoky Quartz is the darker variety of quartz mineral family, where the color is caused by natural and artificial gamma rays. Usually it exhibit a brown, orange brown, brown black color hue. Gemstones of this material often comes with eye clean clarity, but rutile needles inclusions are also frequent. It can be found in larger size, the finest quality of smoky quartz are faceted in beautiful gemstones, but it can be carved or cut into beads and cabochon. It has an hardness of 7 on the Mohs hardness mineral scale and it is safe to be used in jewelry.
