Spessartite Garnet

Spessartite is member of the Garnet group, and is known for its beautiful orange and reddish-orange colors, this is the reason because gemstones of this Garnet variety are also called mandarin garnet. It can be faceted as a gemstone and used in jewelry, it occurs also in cabochon or beads when present cloudy clarity. Many different inclusions can be found on close inspection with microscope, like: two phase inclusions, liquid inclusions, needle inclusions and more. It is difficult to find in large size and with eye clean clarity especially in big size, and prices can grow rapidly for the finest gemstones. Spessartite garnet are mined in Africa, but it can be found also in Brazil, Burma, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and the United States.
